01How seats work

Buy once, assign as you go

A seat is a licence to take a path, held in our database. No per-course purchasing, and no approval queue every time somebody needs a course.

    Buy a pool of seats

    One purchase creates a pool with a seat count and an access window. Pay by card, or by purchase order if that is how your finance team works.

    Invite by email or by domain

    Paste a list of addresses, or open the pool to anyone with your email domain. Both take a row lock, so a fifty-seat pool never assigns fifty-one.

    Assign a path, not a shopping list

    Point the seat at a learning path. The learner gets the courses in order, with prerequisites already resolved.

    Watch completion, and export it

    Completion by person, by course and by path, with deadlines if you set them. Export to CSV whenever you need it.

02The rule that causes disputes

A seat has four states, and two of them are permanent

Most course sellers bury this in the terms. It belongs on the page you read before you buy, because by the time you hit it you have usually promised somebody a seat.

    In the pool and not yet given to anyone.

    Moves on when an admin assigns it to an email address.

    Nothing to reclaimNo learner is attached to it yet.
  2. 02Assigned

    Invited by email. The learner has not opened a lesson.

    Moves on the moment the learner opens their first lesson.

    ReclaimableNothing has been consumed. Take it back and give it to someone else.
  3. 03Activated

    The learner opened their first lesson. The seat is in use.

    Moves on when they pass the assessment and a certificate is issued.

    Not reclaimableLearning has started. Delivery has happened and cannot be undone.
  4. 04Consumed

    Certified. The seat is spent and stays spent.

    Final state. The credential belongs to the learner from here.

    Not reclaimableA certificate was issued against it. Recycling it would mean withdrawing a credential.
The point of no return

Between assigned and activated. Before it, a seat is yours. After it, it belongs to the learning that happened.

Somebody leaves before they start
If their seat is still assigned, reclaim it and give it to their replacement. Nothing is lost.
Somebody leaves halfway through
The seat is activated, so it stays with them. Plan for a small margin on a long programme.
You paste sixty addresses into a fifty-seat pool
Fifty are assigned and ten are refused, with the ten named. Assignment takes a row lock on the pool, so it cannot oversubscribe.

Seats live in our database, not in the payment record. That is what lets a purchase-order customer have full access sixty days before the invoice clears.

03The org admin surface

Everything an administrator needs to prove it worked

The first purchase is a decision about content. The second is a decision about whether you could prove the first one worked.

    Org dashboard

    Seats used against seats purchased, completion across the org, and anything overdue. One screen, refreshed from a recount rather than a running total.

    Members and invitations

    Invite by address or by email domain, deactivate a leaver, and move an assignment between people while the seat is still reclaimable.

    Required training

    Mark a path required for a group and set a due date. Learners see the deadline on their own dashboard, not only in an email they archived.

    Deadlines and reminders

    A reminder at fourteen days, at three days, and on the day. Nothing after the deadline, because a nagging system gets filtered.

    Reporting by person, course and path

    Completion, progress, assessment scores, and the date each credential was issued. Section-level results stay with the learner.

    Export

    CSV of the current view, with the filters applied and a header row naming what each column counts. Built for a board pack, not for a spreadsheet archaeologist.

Counts are seats, not people. Someone holding two seats appears twice. Seat state is held in our database, so a billing record never grants or removes access. Access on this pool closes 14 Jan 2028.

Set a path as required for a group and give it a date. Progress is recounted server-side, so a replayed event never inflates a number.

What the export contains

One row per person per assignment. Columns are named for what they count, and the file carries the filter that produced it, so a report in a board pack can be reproduced six months later.

  • Learner name and email
  • Path or course, and the version enrolled into
  • Required lessons at enrolment, and lessons complete
  • Assessment score, pass mark, and attempt number
  • Credential code and issue date, where one was issued
  • Seat state, and the date it last changed

Run your existing courses beside ours

Upload the zip you already have. It lands in the same catalogue, in the same paths, with the same progress tracking and the same reporting as a ShareCo course.

  • SCORM 1.2 and 2004, including sequencing.
  • The manifest is parsed and the launch URL resolved across every xml:base on the chain. That resolution is the most common reason a package will not start elsewhere.
  • Every upload is checked for path traversal, entry-count and size limits, and symlinks before a single file is written.
  • A SCORM lesson sits in a module beside a video or a lab. The learner cannot tell which is which.
  • Progress, deadlines, reporting and export cover your packages exactly as they cover ours.

How a package is served

Content runs on a separate registrable domain, not a subdomain. A subdomain is same-site, so session cookies would still reach a third party JavaScript bundle you did not write.

One thing SCORM cannot do here

A SCORM package reports its own completion, and the browser is what asserts it. Anyone can open developer tools and set it. So we treat that signal as engagement telemetry, and a certificate is issued only on a server-scored assessment where the answer key never leaves the server.

This applies to our courses and to yours. It is the reason a ShareCo certificate is worth verifying.

Prices in Canadian dollars, per seat, excluding tax. A seat covers one named learner on one learning path at a time. The pool has a 24-month access window from purchase, and unassigned seats stay available for the whole window.

    Single sign-on and directory sync

    SAML or OpenID Connect against your identity provider, with group-based assignment. A leaver loses access when your directory says so, not when somebody remembers.

    A private catalogue

    Your own courses, your own SCORM packages and your own paths, visible only to your organisation. It can sit alongside the public catalogue or replace it entirely.

    Courses built from your org

    We audit your org read-only, then author lessons on your actual flows, your actual objects and the decisions somebody made three years ago. New joiners learn your system, not a generic one.
