Draft

This document is a working draft written by the ShareCo team and is pending review by Canadian counsel. It describes what we actually do today. Where it conflicts with a signed engagement letter, the engagement letter governs.

In short

  • One account per person. Do not share a login or a seat.
  • Do not try to reach another organisation’s learners, records or reports.
  • Seats are for your own organisation. Do not resell them.
  • Report a security problem to security@shareco.ca before telling anyone else.

The summary is not the agreement. The numbered sections below are.

What you may not do

  • Share an account. Each person signs in with their own, because a certificate tied to a shared account verifies nothing.
  • Create accounts automatically or in bulk, or create extra accounts to retake an assessment or collect extra seats.
  • Pretend to be another person or organisation, or enrol someone without their knowledge.
  • Try to reach another organisation’s learners, progress, reports or billing, or test the Academy’s security without our written permission.
  • Resell, rent or transfer seats outside the organisation that bought them.
  • Copy, scrape, redistribute or re-host course material, assessment questions or answers, or use them to train a model.
  • Submit work in a graded activity or a lab that is not your own, or tamper with a lab check to make it pass.
  • Upload or post anything unlawful, or anything meant to harm, harass or deceive people.

Reporting a security problem

If you find a security problem, write to security@shareco.ca before telling anyone else, and give us a reasonable window to fix it. We will not pursue you for a good-faith report. The same contact is published in our security.txt file.

What happens on a breach

Depending on how serious it is, we suspend the account, withdraw the seat, revoke a certificate earned in breach of these rules, or close the account. We tell the account holder, and the organisation that assigned the seat, what we did and why, unless the law or an ongoing investigation stops us.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes we update the date at the top. If a change affects what learners may do, we email account holders before it takes effect.
