PRODUCT

What ShareCo actually does.

A focused BOM risk monitor for hardware teams that need to know when a part, lead time, or price quietly changes.

Watch your first BOM

The watching engine

ShareCo checks every part on every uploaded BOM against official distributor data each day. Lifecycle, stock, lead time, and price drift are stored with source and timestamp so alerts can be audited later.

  • Daily Inngest jobs retry on failure instead of silently skipping watches.
  • Digi-Key and Mouser are v1 because they have sanctioned APIs and enough coverage for the first ICP.
  • Distributor data is cached within terms and never republished raw.

The alternates engine

When a part fails, ShareCo narrows candidates with parametric constraints first, then uses GPT-5.5 to rank readable alternates. AI ranks the shortlist; engineers still decide.

  • Pin compatibility, package, voltage, tolerance, and lifecycle are hard constraints.
  • The recommendation explains why each alternate made the list.
  • Rejected alternates become feedback for future ranking.

Integration model

Teams connect Digi-Key and Mouser through OAuth. The connector stores only what is needed to refresh distributor data and run watches.

  • No scraping, browser automation, or distributor credential sharing.
  • Each alert points back to the distributor source and check time.
  • More distributors wait until v1 customers prove the next source matters.

Alert delivery

Alerts are written for the five-second phone read: what changed, why it matters, what build is at risk, and which alternates are worth checking.

  • Email in v1, Slack and in-app delivery prepared in the workflow model.
  • High-risk changes are grouped so a morning digest does not hide a production blocker.
  • Each alert links back to the affected BOM and part row.

Team workflows

ShareCo is built for small hardware teams where the same person might upload the BOM, own purchasing, and explain risk to the founder.

  • Multi-user organizations and role-aware access are part of the v1 app model.
  • The default experience stays low-admin and focused on BOM risk.
  • No procurement workflow sprawl until real users ask for it.

The AI we use, and where we do not

GPT-5.5 ranks alternates and summarizes alerts. It does not make buying decisions, write to accounting systems, contact vendors, or hide the underlying distributor facts.

What is next

Coming after v1 paying customers tell us what they need next: BOM-aware cost roll-up, inventory tracking, and supplier risk. Roadmap items stay labeled as future until shipped.
